Summertime is officially coming to an end, and the weather here in Chicago has been unpredictable. With so many unexpected weather changes, it has been a constant battle over what to wear on a day-to-day basis. Therefore, I resorted to the classic jumpsuit trend. The one-step outfit is the perfect alternative to dresses, skirts, or even tight skinny jeans. Right now, Chicago is usually pretty chilly in the morning and heats up once the afternoon rolls around. So, I typically throw on a jumpsuit to beat the humidity or to keep warm during the windy days.
The transition to fall could be difficult, and many people think they need to go shopping for a whole new wardrobe. However, I am going to tell you how to revamp your favorite summer ensemble to fit a brisk autumn day.
Beach Cover-Up
Many jumpsuits come as a two piece set, therefore, get your last few beach days in by wearing the pants as a bathing suit cover-up. The pants will keep you warm during the breezy September beach days.
Business Casual
Wear the bottoms of the jumpsuit to an interview or to work. This business casual look is a great way to make a fashionable first impression and become the trendsetter in the office. However, I highly recommend purchasing a neutral color jumpsuit before testing this trick out. I would also pair the bottoms with an up-to trend button down shirt or a high neck blouse.
Comfy Cozy
I typically wear my jumpsuits in the summer when I want to be cool and comfy to beat the summer heat. However, nothing is better than being cozy on a fall day. Therefore, I would throw on a off the shoulder sweater to create an effortless, yet trendy look. This outfit would be perfect for a movie night or to class.
Formal
Jumpsuits are extremely versatile and Yes, they are worn casually. Although, if you are looking to turn heads, you should wear a chic jumpsuit out on the town. Complete your formal get-up with a classic pump or a lace up heel.
What I’m Wearing
While I usually don’t reach for pattern pieces, I did get excited when I found this multicolored vertical strip jumpsuit from NastyGal. Vertical stripes are not only stylish, but they are also flattering on the body. This type of pattern will make you look taller and leaner. I paired this jumpsuit with a white oversize distressed denim jacket from LF Stores. I usually purchase my jackets oversized because it allows me to fit a heavy sweater underneath and it adds a relaxed, edgy, and grunge look to my style. I completed this look with reasonably priced sandal platforms from Forever21 and of course my Quay Australia sunnies.
